"Autumn Gourds and Pumpkin" by Heather Roselle Barter
11" x 14" framed oil on panel.
Heather Roselle Barter graduated from the University of Maine with a BA in Art Education in 2013 and attended MECA's Early College program as a seventeen-year-old. Both programs helped to refine her technical skills, and she found much inspiration in her Art History classes when studying American landscape traditions and the European Expressionists. Heather’s work is an exploration of all seasons and all landscapes in Maine. She draws from the unique convergence of land and sea that Maine has to offer, and from the hidden colors of the landscape. Heather looks for artful compositions in unexpected places across this exquisite state.

"Choosing Happiness" by Erica Bibee
17" x 11" (16" x 20" framed) colored pencil illustration.
"Being human means being logically aware of our feelings, even though those concepts seem to contradict each other. We're living a unique experience of half good and half bad all around us, and being human means embracing all aspects. We must let the negative wash through us and embrace the positive like a warm hug, when we can.
I created this piece in high school, now over 15 years ago. In my last 15 years, it's not that the negative stops existing; in fact, at times, it gets so much worse. But the positives also get better. We find the pockets of little glimmers of joy, and we hold on to them during the times of darkness. During storms so dark you're not sure you'll see the sun again.
But it's there, always. And when you can remember that, you can learn to embrace the positive, let the storm water your roots, and know the sun will come back to help you grow your flowers. Choose happiness, choose to see the sun again.
For this auction, I reworked this piece with my current level of skill, and my current levels of the moments where I can meet my happiness at the door. Revamping this piece forced me to visit the memories of struggling so hard as a teenager. Times when I thought giving up would be a better choice. But their back is turned, and their fist is clenched, because they are choosing to walk away. She is choosing her own happiness." -Erica Bibee

"Cityscape Motion" by Roberta March
36” x 36” x 2” acrylic and ink on birch panel.
"In Cityscape Motion, I explore the fluidity of movement as both a physical and emotional force—one that shapes the body, the earth, and our shared human experience. This painting is a response to the rhythms I feel around and within me: the shifting energy of cities, the undercurrent of nature, and the constant motion that drives life forward.
For me, movement is not just visual—it’s visceral. Through layers of color, texture, and contrast, I invite the viewer into a psychological space where lightness and darkness coexist, where structure dissolves into spontaneity. The lines echo the grid of a city, yet they blur, dissolve, and reconfigure—mirroring the way our inner landscapes evolve in response to the world around us.
This piece is about becoming: becoming fluid, becoming alive, and ultimately, becoming part of something larger through the act of seeing and feeling. It’s an emotional offering, a shared moment of transformation between artist and viewer." -Roberta March

"You Can Do Anything" by Ingunn Milla Joergensen
12" x 12" x 1.5" oil on canvas.
"There are two women in my life to whom I dedicate my life as an artist, my career as an art teacher, and my creative sides too!
The fist one was my mom, Bjorg. My father died when I was five, being the youngest of three siblings. She did not have the means nor the energy to take us on elaborate vacations but what she did was to bring us to the big museums in Oslo, again and again, to enjoy the beautiful art. All the big masters were there for me to explore from a very young age.
The second was my elementary school teacher, Lillian, back in 1973. I was not one to enjoy cross-stitched cushions in what I found incredibly boring colors. But, if I came up with a plan, provided the materials and focused… she approved. I still have the machine-sewed rag doll with overalls made from curtains—and brown pig tails!
I didn’t reflect much upon it back then but the fact that she really saw me, and did not in any way put limits to my wild-child creativity never stops to amaze me. A true role model in my own career as an art teacher.
It is such a privilege for me to support the Children's Museum, knowing that the work they do makes a huge difference for so many children. Creativity is key." -Ingunn Milla Joergensen

"Drifting" by Liz Prescott
8" x 8" (12" x 12" framed) acrylic on paper in an archival maple frame.
"My art is driven by a love of process and color. Inevitably I am drawn to scenes of light and movement along the Maine coast. Boat and building reflections along the Portland waterfront serve as a launching pad for me to explore elements of art and design…shape, space, and color. Watching images dissolve, transmute, and reform in the water allows me free reign to explore abstraction while still holding on to remnants of something we understand.
I have been making art in my Freeport studio for over 20 years, exhibiting throughout New England.
I am a graduate of Maine College of Art and Vermont College of Fine Arts. When not in the studio I teach plein air workshops in Maine and abroad, with a workshop planned for Portugal in May." -Liz Prescott
Liz Prescott is represented by Portland Art Gallery.

"Pink Water Lily" by Bettina Swirkal
23" x 20" oil on board, framed in brown and gold frame.
Just like a scene from a romantic movie, John Bisignano fell in love with Bettina Swirkal when he first laid eyes on her at the Art Student’s League in New York City. Soon the two were inseparable. Each helped promote and encourage the other’s art. Together they photographed beautiful flowers or carousels, two of Bettina’s favorite subjects, or they would hike into the Maine wilderness to capture images for John’s works.
They eventually gave up city life to settle into the Maine way. The rugged beauty of the Maine Coast and the freedom from distractions allowed them to live as creative partners. While their styles are very different, their support and love for each other made them a modern Romeo and Juliet in the art world. Both of their works are as relevant today as they were in the last few decades.
All sales of their work will go to support a scholarship fund for an upcoming Maine Artist.
